Port Townsend’s maritime heritage is celebrated at the Northwest Maritime Center, a stunning modern building situated on the waterfront between the Historic District and the Hudson Point Marina. The Center has grown out of Port Townsend’s famous Wooden Boat Festival and provides maritime educational programs through its fleet of boats. The Center also offers kayak rental and free boat tours of the waterfront to visitors while its pink chairs are a renowned place to sit and watch the world go by. The Center is home to a wooden boat chandlery and Velocity, an excellent coffee shop. The Hudson Point marina is also worth a visit and Hudson Point CafĂ© also comes highly recommended for breakfast, though we didn’t make it out there on this occasion.
