The Port Townsend Farmers Market on Saturdays (9am – 2pm) is considered to be one of the best medium-sized markets in the state, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The produce and seafood is top notch – try the smoked salmon from Cape Cleare and the crabcakes – but there was also local honey and mushrooms, beautiful goats’ cheeses, amazing homemade pies from Crust and gorgeous flowers. The market would be a good place to grab a quick lunch – the veggie stirfry, the thin-crust pizza from the woodfired oven and the traditionally-made paella caught our eye – and its uptown location (on Tyler St. between Lawrence and Clay) makes it a good base to view some of the magnificent Victorian houses in the neighborhood.
